Caven Hamilton

Caven Hamilton is an Associate Attorney in the Fort Lauderdale Office of Lorium Law. He represents public and private companies, creditors, and investors in all aspects of bankruptcy, restructuring, and commercial litigation. Recognized as a leading young scholar in the insolvency space, Caven was selected by the American College of Bankruptcy as the Most Distinguished Law Student in the Ninth Federal Circuit. Making him the first student from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law to win the award, and the first Black person from the Ninth Federal Circuit to win the award.

Beginning in his 3L year of law school, Caven served as Vice-Chair of the Beverly Hills Bar Association’s Bankruptcy Committee and served on the NexGen Committee of the Turnaround Management Association. While serving on the Bankruptcy Committee for the BHBA, Caven was a Moderator on multiple discussion Panels pertaining to various Bankruptcy issues.

During the fall semester of his 2L year in law school, Caven earned the highest grade in his Bankruptcy: Creditor’s and Debtor course, which carried into the very next semester where he earned one of the highest grades in his Business Bankruptcy course.

Born and Raised in Spanish Town, Jamaica, Caven moved to Broward County Florida at the age of Nine years old. He is a graduate of Fort Lauderdale High School, where he was a four-year member of the Flying L Debate Team and was a member of the Varsity Football team. He is also a graduate of Florida State University, where he was Vice-President of Phi Eta Sigma, and was inducted into Phi Kappa Phi during his Junior year.
